Cushman & Wakefield Appoints Maria J. D’Avanzo Chief Ethics Officer

Maria D'AvanzoCushman & Wakefield announced today the appointment of Maria J. D’Avanzo as Chief Ethics Officer. Ms. D’Avanzo’s expanded role will enhance the highest standards of ethical conduct and institutional integrity by focusing on conflicts of interest, client/business selection and advisory support. Ms. D’Avanzo most recently served as C&W’s Global Compliance Officer, and she will continue to develop, adopt and implement our compliance programs.

In her expanded role as Chief Ethics Officer, Ms. D’Avanzo will partner with the executive management as well as the regional and service line leadership to facilitate ethical business practices, resolve impediments to enhancing our clients’ success and reinforce the firm’s reputation for integrity. She will also further integrate compliance and ethics to be pervasive in our day-to-day operations.

Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Ms. D’Avanzo was Deputy Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President of AIG Asset Management, responsible for overseeing all compliance aspects of the real estate funds and capital markets business of AIG Global Real Estate. Previously, she was Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President of Starwood Capital, where she was responsible for the company’s global compliance program. Ms. D’Avanzo was earlier in private practice as a principal of the law firm of D’Avanzo & Morreale, P.C. specializing in real estate, financial and corporate transactions.

Ms. D’Avanzo received her Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the College of the Holy Cross.
